Actions Against the
Solomon Amendment
Days of Action.
In response to the arrival of military law recruiters
on campus, Guild students held two separate action days to educate law
students and others about the Solomon amendment and how it
discriminates against queer Americans, as well as the generally evil
practices of military recruiters.
The first day involved providing written information
and stickers to the law school community to voice their support. The second involved a
week-long image progression campaign (adding images to posted fliers
throughout the week) as well as more information, and armbands for the
NESL community that said things like “ask me, I’ll
tell”. (co-sponsored
by the Queer Caucus)
Dec. 1st from 1:20-3, in NUSL’s moot
court room - Town Hall Event - Kent Greenfield, the acting
president of the Plaintiff party of law schools that are challenging
the army in the Solomon law suit that is coming up in the Supreme
Court; Emily Spieler; Libby Adler, and other NUSL faculty members on
the school’s perspective, why it eventually accepted the
recruiters, and how they have handled their arrival. (Co-sponsored by

Street Law Clinic
Trainings
Street
Law Clinics are teach-ins to community groups about the law. The goal
is to demistify the law, educating people about their rights, giving
them knowledge and power. This year, students have been trained in Landlord/Tenant and Worker’s
Rights clinics. If you are interested in hosting a street law clinic, please contact the Massachusetts NLG office.
